REPORTER, Marion Ali, Assistant Editor, -

Robbers got away with a significant amount of cash and a delivery truck from the Quality Poultry Chicken Belmopan outlet on Saturday afternoon.

It happened when Francisco Monterosa, 25, a truck driver with the company, was waiting for his co-worker in the parked Isuzu in front of a shopping centre on Guadalupe Street between 3:30pm and 4:30pm.

Monteroso told Police that two Hispanic men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, approached him and demanded money. The men got away with $7,000 and also stole the truck.

The vehicle was later found overturned further up on Guadalupe Street, extensively damaged. Empty chicken crates were strewn across the street but it is not yet certain if it was the thieves who cleaned out the truck’s chicken contents.

Police have made no arrests.
