Reporter: News Staff, July 26th. 2018 -

Two brothers, Jamie and Antony Archer, both residents of Forest Home just outside of Punta Gorda Town, died when the car they were in flipped multiple times. Two other persons in the vehicle, Darian Romero and Jerry Cruz, are currently at the KHMH listed in critical but stable condition with severe head and body injuries.

The one-car accident occurred between Miles 12 and 13 on the San Antonio Road, close to an area known as the Dump.

Police were called to the scene just before 6:00pm Tuesday and found the vehicle totally destroyed, and three bodies nearby. It appeared they had been flung from the vehicle when it flipped.

Two of the persons, Darian Romero, 20, and Jerry Cruz, 17 were breathing and both were immediately rushed to the Punta Gorda Hospital. Anthony Archer, 27, died on the scene. It was only at around 8:30pm that family members told Police that Jamie Archer, 28, had been in the vehicle as well. That’s when Police returned to the scene and found his body.

Because of the extent of their injuries, Romero and Cruz were taken to the Southern Regional Hospital, and then on to the KHMH.

The Reporter has been able to confirm that the brothers, Jamie and Anthony, borrowed the Toyota Corolla from a family member earlier in the day. They were accompanied by Romero and Cruz who are cousins and related to them through marriage. The four reportedly headed to Jalacte, and persons have reported seeing them in Santa Cruz, just across the border in Guatemala. It was in the evening as they headed back to Forest Home that the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Police have indicated that they do not know at this time who was driving the vehicle.
