North America warns against travel to Haiti

By Marion Ali, Staff Reporter

The United States and Canadian governments have warned their nationals against traveling to Haiti on grounds that there has been a reported increase in crime in some parts of the French-speaking Caribbean country.

“You should exercise a high degree of caution due to high crime rates in various parts of the country and ongoing political tensions,” said Canada in a statement. “The decision to travel is your responsibility. You are also responsible for your personal safety abroad.”
