Lionel Guerra, 35, a popular contractor of Orange Walk Town lost his life just three hours after he brought in his birthday, and just outside of his hometown in a tragic road traffic mishap at the Toll Bridge at Tower Hill.
Guerra had reportedly left Orange Walk at around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday to “bring in” his birthday elsewhere and was returning home around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday when he encountered death.
Inspector of Police, Selwyn Gillett, deputy officer commanding the Orange Walk police station told The Reporter that Guerra’s black Dodge Ram pick-up truck broke through the guard rail on the approach of the bridge and careened almost 30 feet doen into the river, landing upside down.
Guerra, who police believe was knocked unconscious on impact with the rail, most likely died of drowning when his pick-up truck submerged.
