Chamber of Commerce hosts Christmas expo 2017

Around 50 local businesses gathered in the St. Catherine’s Academy Auditorium for the 6th Annual Christmas Expo, hosted by the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The two-day event began yesterday and runs until 6 p.m today. Local businesses of all sizes and from all over the country are offering deals on various items, giving Belizeans a chance to get some early Christmas shopping done.

The expo offers discounts on items such as groceries, jewellery, cell phones, wines and other alcoholic drinks, snacks makeup and a wide range of electronics. Vianey Reyes Marketing and Public Relations officer for the BCC explained that one of the major motivations behind holding the expo is to assist in the development of micro businesses.

“They participate in these expos mainly for the advertisement that they get from the Chamber and the respect that they get from the Chamber name and the different members that the work with them, ” Reyes said.

About a quarter of all the business represented at the expo were micro businesses, of which are startup companies. The Christmas Expo is the second largest event on the BCCI calendar, preceded by the Business Expo held in September.EXPO
