BTL unveils 2015 Directory

The Belize Telemedia Limited unveiled the 2015 installment of its annual telephone directory, at a brief ceremony at its Church Street office in Belize City on Friday.

The front cover of this year’s directory features an image of the Big Drop Falls in Southern Belize, taken by Belizean photographer, Tony Rath.

Ellen Borland, senior brand and events representative at BTL explained that while the company usually has a directory team prepare the publication, this year’s directory was outsourced to the international firm, Global Directories.

“This is the first time we are outsourcing the publication and we are really pleased with the results,” Borland said, “so this is the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership.”

She added that on average, the company prints some 50,000 large copies of the directory per year, and around 10,000 mini directories; however this year the number was significantly increased.

Mariano Williams, publish directory officer for Global Directories, explained that BTL has through private sector partnerships, made the directory more accessible to Belizeans by collaborating with Courts and A&R to have these businesses distribute directories in all their branches countrywide. Ladyville residents can also get directories from Sky Supermarket.

Anamarie McCulloch, sales manager for Global Directories, explained that the new directory, while smaller in size than the usual directories, contains more listings, advertisements and content than last year.

“The size is mainly due to the quality of paper… the pages are made from recycled paper,” McCulloch said, “in keeping with the commitment of being an environmentally responsible corporate citizen.”
