Over 500 residents in Santa Anna village, Toledo will soon have potable water as the Government invests over half a million dollars for a potable water system in their community.
The government’s press office says some 91 households, schools, churches and the village health post will now access potable water for their daily basic needs.
The installation of potable water is in an effort to meet the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to reduce the number of people without access to clean water by half.
The installation consists of 20,000 gallons of water in a storage tank, ferro concrete pump house, a chain link fence and other necessary equipment.
The Belize Social Investment Fund contributed $28,000 of the $550,000 invested.
