St Ignatius girls & boys win in primary schools football

The girls and boys of St Ignatius RC Primary School  enjoyed victories when the Belize City Primary Schools Football Competition continued at the M.C.C. Grounds on Friday, October 19.

Christy Francisco scored the winning goal as she led the St. Ignatius girls to a 1-0 win over the girls of Buttonwood Bay Nazarene School.

The St. Ignatius boys also enjoyed a 1-0 victory over Buttonwood Bay Nazarene School when Michael Sarmiento got away from the Buttonwood defense  in the second half for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

He won, scoring the winning goal in the second half.

The boys of St. John Vianney School enjoyed their second victory 3-0 over the boys of Wesley Upper School, who had held them to a 0- 0 draw up to intermission. In the second half, Akeem Sutherland scored a goal and Orlando Velasquez added  a second. He  also converted a penalty kick for the 3-0 win.

St. John Vianney  boys had also triumphed 3-0 over the boys of St. Luke Methodist School on Wednesday afternoon. Kenroy Linares scored two goals and Orlando Velasquez added a third.

It was Buttonwood boys’ second loss at the hands of the boys of Calvary Temple School who had their first win over Buttonwood Bay boys on Wednesday with Tariq Lamb, Miguel Jex and Kelly Connor each scoring one goal for the 3-0 win.

The Calvary Temple boys struggled to a scoreless draw with the Wesley Upper boys in their first outing on Tuesday.

The girls of Holy Redeemer RC School also enjoyed their first win 2-0 over the girls of Queen Square Anglican School on Thursday, when Jennifer Estrada scored the first, winning goal and Diana Banks added a second.

The boys of Queen Square Anglican School avenged their schoolmates, giving the boys of Holy Redeemer tit for tat in a 7-1 rout.

Kadeem Longsworth scored a double hat trick to embarrass the Holy Redeemer goalkeeper with six goals and Rayne Gentle added a seventh goal. Anthony Cervantes converted a penalty kick for Holy Redeemer School’s only goal.

The boys of St. Martin De Porres School and St. Mary’s Anglican School struggled to a scoreless draw in Thursday’s third game. The St. Martin’s boys had done better in a 2-1 win over the boys of Belize Elementary School when the competition started on Tuesday.

Marquis Conorquie and Alex Estell had each scored a goal for St. Martin’s while Cousion Wong scored at the only goal for Belize Elementary.

The boys of Salvation Army School had to tough it out to win 2-1 over the boys of Muslim Community School on Wednesday. Marvin Martinez and Keron Patnett had each scored a goal for Salvation Army School while Tyrique Ciego scored for the Muslim Community boys.

The girls of Belize Elementary School enjoyed their first victory: 3-0 over the girls of St. Martin De Porres School in the opening game of the competition last Tuesday afternoon as Juliana Ramos scored two goals and Chelsea Williams added a third .

The boys of Ebenezer Methodist School got the easy bye to a 3-0 over the boys of  St. Mary’s Anglican School who failed to show up.

Their scheduled game on Tuesday evening; Ebenezer’s goalkeeper Jonathan Perrera was credited with the three goals.
