A delegation of Belizean athletes are preparing to represent the country in the upcoming 17th Pan American Games.
The delegates leave for Toronto, Canada on Wednesday to participate in the Athletics and Triathlon events.
The delegation will be headed by Chief of Mission, Allan Sharp. The contingent consists of triathlete Amed Figueroa, Athletics delegate Deon Sutherland, Kaina Martinez and Mark Anderson who will both be doing the 100m.
The event, which is the third largest multi-sport competition in the world will run from July 10-26. The triathlon takes place from the 11th -12th and A
athletics from the 21st – 25th.
Forty-one countries will compete in 36 disciplines at the event, which is held once every four years. 5he events include: archery, judo, golf, cycling, boxing, basketball, and bowling.
There will be a total of 6135 athletes competing this year.
The first ever Pan Am Games was held in 1951 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
