Forty students participated in the tournament: five teams of eight players each from St. Mary’s Primary School, Wesley Upper Primary School, Trinity Methodist Primary School, St Joseph Primary School, and Belize Elementary Primary School. The players were separated into eight groups of five who each played a round robin competition, from which the top two players from each group advanced to final double elimination competition.

The Santiago Castillo Group helped sponsor the event and all winners received gift packages of Ovaltine products from a San Cas representative. BTTA president Arturo “Tux” Vasquez says the association will continue in its outreach program to get more schools involved in this grass roots level of development of the sport of table tennis, and the tournament will become an annual event with more schools participating until it becomes a truly national event, with all districts participating.
