The South Side Youth Success Program closed its doors for good on Friday.
In a letter of appreciation to its partners, the management and staff of SYSP stated that the project had “come to its completion.”
The project, which collaborated heavily with the Department of Youth Services, Ministry of Education Youth & Sports and United Nation Development Programme, worked with over 100 young men from the south side of Belize City that were separated into four cohorts.
Enrollees received training in literacy, personal development, counseling, sportsmanship, as well as skills training and apprenticeship.
The center also worked with “Special Needs” students within the cohort who were former students of Stella Morris school.
SYSP also produced a book entitled “The Good, The Bad, The Nobody Road” which was released last year.
Attempts to get a comment from the Minister of Human development and the Chief Executive Officer were unsuccessful.
