Fundraising effort garners over $2000 for feeding program

By Marion Ali, Staff Reporter

A four-hour effort on Saturday to assist the Saint Joseph’s primary school feeding program garnered over $2000 in donations.

The fundraising campaign in the name of slain journalist Kareem Clarke earlier this year, included a number of media representatives who assembled in front of Brodie’s Northern and Albert Street and K Park Supermarkets to appeal to shoppers and supporters to donate food items towards the feeding program.

At the end of the appeal, Treasurer of the Kareem Clarke Memorial Fund, Marisol Amaya indicated that the donations totalled $2159.41 in food items, which have already been handed over to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, which runs the feeding program at the school.
