The Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) program held graduation this week for 120 boys and girls from the Bishop O.P. Martin Roman Catholic Primary School in San Ignacio Town. The students underwent 13 weeks of training on how to say no to gangs and how to protect themselves. It included anger management classes.
At the graduation the deputy commander of the San Ignacio/Santa Elena police, Inspector Reymundo Reyes encouraged the youths to use the knowledge they acquired to make positive contributions to their community.
Police Constable 495 Jason Jones became the GREAT instructor for the program at the school after he received training in Salvador. He encouraged the students to continue using the skills that they acquired to make positive differences in their lives.
