A media and video symposium will be held on November 4th to help small businesses, non-profit and government organizations become better marketers, communicators and visual storytellers.
The symposium is being coordinated by the Healthy Reefs for Healthy People Initiative along with South Shore Productions Incorporated and will be held at the Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina.
Erika Gilsdorf, founder of South Sore Productions, told The Reporter that the idea for the symposium arose after multiple jobs in the Caribbean indicated a need for this type of information disemination.
The all-day session will be held at the Radisson Fort GeorgeHotel and include insider tips and advice from Belize’s leading media and video professionals. Speakers at the session will include representatives from PGTV, Centaur Communications, KREM TV, Channel 7, Channel 5, The Reporter, The San Pedro Sun, TAS Belize, 13 Productions, Belize Filmworks and Idea Lab Solutions.
The symposium will be broken into two sessions, one in the morning from 8:30 to 12:45 and the other from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The first session title “How to Tap into the Power of Video” will cover topics such as creating compelling stories, funding and budgeting for videos, technology and video basics, releases, contracts and promoting the product.
The second session titled “Working with the Media” will focus on areas including what grabs media attention, interview tips, building long-term media relationships, maximizing digital exposure and public service announcements.
For people interested in participating, one session will cost $110 and both sessions will cost $200. Non-profit and government organizations get a discounted rate of $81 for a single session and $153 for both sessions.
