By Michelle Sutherland, Staff Reporter

A traffic accident on the San Victor road in Corozal has resulted in the death of a Stann Creek resident.

At around 7:40 p.m., on Saturday, police responded to the scene of a traffic accident, where they observed a blue two-door Mazda pickup on the side of the road extensively damaged, and a white Ford Ranger pickup truck overturned and also extensively damaged.

Travelling inside the pickup as a passenger was 26-year-old Carlos Carrias, who suffered severe head and body injuries. He was transported to the Corozal hospital, where he later died.

According to a police press release, 24-year-old Victor Noble told investigators that he was driving his vehicle on the San Victor road when he experienced mechanical problems and had to push the vehicle to the side of the road.

He also informed officials that he put on his hazzard light and while he was attending to his vehicle, the Mazda pickup truck crashed into his parked vehicle.

Officials have not indicated as yet whether any Notice of Intended Prosecution will be issued to any of the drivers.
