Toledo resident Lusilla Vernon turns 100 years old

Lusilla McNab Vernon completed 100 years on January 26th 2018. She was born in
Punta Gorda, Belize on January 26th, 1918.

She is one of the 13 children of Sam Vernon JP and Isabel Vernon. She was married to Eddie McNab, and has five children – Dorothy, Edgar, Sandra, Anthony and Theordore.

She survived Hurricane Hattie in 1961 while working alongside Eddie at ‘Travellers Bar’ . They were good friends of Traveller’s magnate Omario Perdomo.

Lusilla along with two sisters (Rosenda and Enriqueta) travelled to USA in the latter 70’s and made Apartment 2-D at 1718 Grand Ave. Bronx, New York their home – which was also the home of numerous Belizeans. Lusilla’s father, the patriarch of the Vernon family in Punta Gorda, was a Legislator (along with Robert Turton) and was a Representative for Toledo South in 1961/65 and was the first Senator from Toledo in the first Senate of Self-Government 1965.

Her husband Eddie passed away, but her children Dorothy, Edgar and Sandra are in the US. Anthony owns a famous souvenir shop in San Ignacio and Theodoro lives in Punta Gorda.
Lusilla McNab Vernon has received a lot congratulations on her longetivity, especially through ‘Facebook’. She is very happy to have reached the 100 year milestone and she even still dances!
