Thieves target Belmopan pawn shop

Belmopan police are investigating an armed robbery at a pawn shop in the capital, where thieves made off with over $60,000 in cash and valuables.

The manager of First Stop pawn shop on Constitution Drive, Belmopan told police that around 9:20 a.m., on Thursday October 26, while she and other employees were inside the shop, two men entered the establishment.

The manager said that one of the two, of fair complexion, pulled out a rusty handgun and demanded that she open the bar gate, which she did.

As a result, the men stole $8,500 in cash, $51,000 in assorted jewelry and a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge valued at $1,400.

Police investigation into the matter continues.
