The office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children launched its 2015 “Inspiration” calendars and agendas this week.
The official launch ceremony was held at the Inspiration Center located at mile 1 1/2 on the George Price highway on Wednesday.
The SEWC, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, highlighted that the launch held great significance not only for the center but for the children of belize with special needs.
“I am pleased to share that all our young artists this year are among the clients of the Inspiration Center who are now benefiting from services including medical care, physical therapy, speech therapy, social work services and community based rehabilitation.” Barrow said.
Speakers at the the launch included Oceana’s Dr. Isani Chan, and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Patrick Faber. Special guest speaker was Rosanna Briceño principal of St. Peter Anglican School in Orange Walk. St Peter is the only school in that district which caters to special needs children.
The Special envoy also received a cheque for $22,000 from McNab publishing, the company which worked closely with the SEWC’s office on producing the calendars.
The launch represents the fifth installment of the calendars and the fourth installment of the agendas. Both are sold to raise funds to support the various services that the inspiration center offers to belize’s special needs children.
This year’s calendar features the artwork and biographies of 14 children all with varying levels of mental and or physical challenges.
