Buttonwood Bay Nazarene Primary School and the Belize City Council held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the school’s compound on Wednesday to commemorate the re-opening of the school’s new library and computer lab resource center.
City Mayor, Darrell Bradley said the Council was proud to have assisted in turning the school’s vision into a reality. Bradley added that the resource center would go a long way to contributing to the education of children who will eventually become Belizean leaders.
Bradley explained this was a complete renovation of the facility, including new electrical wiring, and new furniture, shelves, air conditioning and computers with internet access.
Mayor Bradley said the Belize Central Bank played a significant role in making the center possible by way of donations.
Nazarene Primary School Principal, Amelia Bencomo expressed the school’s gratitude to CitCo for assisting in the development of the resource center. Bencomo said the new facility would provide a variety of services for the children attending the school.
The resource center will be used to conduct a reading re-enforcement program and assist teachers in doing research for planning lessons.
