Post mortem suggests elderly man’s death was caused by a fall

Police say that an elderly man who was found lying critically injured on the George Price highway did not suffer the injury at the hands of anyone else.

Cladius Meighan, 80, who was found unconscious near mile 3 last week Tuesday had a large gash on the back of the head. Meighan died on Christmas Day, but the post mortem examination certified that the injury was caused by a hard fall, and not by any wound inflicted by anything or anyone.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo told the media on Friday that the injury “was not consistent with any road traffic accident or any knock intentionally by anybody.”

Meighan remained in a coma and his lungs collapsed on Christmas Day, resulting in his death.
