First Caribbean International Bank in Belize has donated more than $4000 worth of kitchen gear to the feeding programs of four city primary schools.
The bank handed over the utensils at a small ceremony at its Albert Street branch on Tuesday.

First Caribbean donated items such as stoves, food processors, blenders, cookware sets, assorted containers and and a freezer.
Queen Square Anglican Primary School, Ephesus Adventist School, Ebenezer Primary School, and Unity Presbyterian School all received donations.

Shaeleen Castillo, manager of retail banking and operations at CIBC First Caribbean, explained that the bank partnered with the schools as well as the Ministry of Education to determine which schools were in need and what their needs were

“What we have done is to reach out to certain schools and to find out what is happening with their feeding program and they presented to us what is basically their wish lists,” Castillo said

“We narrowed the lists down to four schools and were able to meet what had been presented to us on their wish list.”

Mrs. Carolyn Betson, principal of Unity Presbyterian School, explained that the school’s feeding program serve some fifty of the most needy children.
“We will continue to nurture our children, not only educationally but also providing some of those basic needs that they have, which will ensure they can do what they need to,” Betson said.
