The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) marked the 19th anniversary of the annual Expo trade show with an opening ceremony on Saturday morning at the ITVET Campus.
BCCI President Arturo Vasquez said this year’s Expo is bigger than it has ever been and it is an encouraging sign for business in Belize. According to Vasquez, this year there were 214 booths rented out compared to the 197 from last year’s Expo.
The Merida Chamber of Commerce also participated in this year’s event. Vasquez said it is a critical step in building cross-border trade relations with Mexico.
Apart from the usual line-up of food, beverages, entertainment and retail products, Vasquez said there were also optical and medical services available for the first time at this year’s Expo. He added that the consumer trade show is still the best place for Belizeans to get deals.
United States Ambassador to Belize Carlos Moreno also spoke at the ceremony saying that facilitating trade between Belize and the US is a focus at the Embassy and supporting the Expo is a way to do that.
He added that commercial and economic diplomacy brings countries together.
