Brothers suffocate in Orange Walk well

By Benjamin Flowers, Staff Reporter

Two brothers were found dead in a well in the Goat Hill area of Tower Hill, Orange Walk District.

Police say they visited a farm owned by the Coyoc family of Trial Farm village, where personnel from the Fire Department removed the bodies of Isidro Coyoc, 41,  and Jeovani Coyoc , 26, from a well about 40 feet deep.

Both men were found unconscious, in about four feet of water, holding on to ropes . Authorities transported them to the Northern Regional Hospital, where Dr Marco DeVille pronounced them dead on arrival.

Police say that Jeovani Coyoc was cleaning the well but began to suffocate. Isidro, who was assisting, tried to assist his brother, but ended up suffocating as well.

Fire Department personnel, accompanied by security personnel from Belize Sugar industries tried to render aid, but the men were already dead by the time they arrived. Post mortem results are not yet available for the incident.
