Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) gas announced that it will assist Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO) and Anguilla Electricity Company Limited (ANGLEC), who suffered damages caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gonzalo on October 11 and 17.
Bermuda and Anguilla are members of the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC).
In Bermuda, over 80 percent of its customers were without power while Anguilla’s electrical infrastructure suffered extensive damage.
Anguilla received immediate assistance with the restoration of power lines by 10 linemen from U.S. Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (VIWAPA) of St. Thomas.
