Another Corozal couple missing!

By Michelle Sutherland, Staff Reporter

A frantic search is underway for a missing Corozal couple, after their vehicle was found burnt and abandoned in a cane field in Patchakan village on Thursday.

According to sources, Zeida Orosco, 32, of San Andres village, Corozal left her house at around 8:10 p.m, en-route to Matchies Pool Spot on 2nd Street North in Corozal Town, to drop off food for her boyfriend, Baltazar Lopez, 41.

Sources close to Orosco’s family have confirmed that they have not heard from or seen her since she left home that night.

Lopez’ family members say they have also not seen or heard from him since that night and all calls to his cellphone go unanswered.

Investigators found Orosco’s green Chevy Prizm car sometime after 3:10 p.m., on Friday, burnt and abandoned in a cane field about 5 milea out of Patchakan village.

It is believed that the couple went missing together because they were last seen together at around 9:30 p.m., on Thursday, on a beach near Coro Blue.

Fire chief for the Corozal district has confirmed that Orosco’s vehicle was intentionally set on fire since there was no sign of electrical problems.

As investigations continue into the unexplained disappearance of the couple, their families and friends, with the assistance of police, are out canvassing nearby areas in the hopes of finding them.
