Man stabbed and left critical; witnesses fear for lives

A Belize City man is in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH)after he was beaten and stabbed by three men early Wednesday morning and a group of men who witnessed the incident now fear for their lives.

Raheem Elington is clinging to life in the Intensive Care Unit of the KHMH. He suffered a large cut wound to his neck as well as multiple stab wounds across his back. He was reportedly attacked around 2:00 a.m., on March 7th.

According to police, cops were called to a bungalow house at the corner of Tibruce Street and Marigold Lane where officers found Elington bleeding profusely from his wounds. He was found motionless on the bathroom floor of the home.

According to police, Elington was at the house consuming alcohol with a group of friends when three other men joined in on the celebration. An argument later erupted between Elington and the three men who then attacked and stabbed him.

Police have detained two people believed to be occupants of the house for questioning, but have not been able to locate the men accused of the stabbing.
Elington’s family members who were present at the time of the incident say they are in fear of their lives after being threatened by the perpetrators.
