Man, 56, shot dead during dominoes game

An afternoon shooting in Belize City last Wednesday has left one man dead and another injured.

Cyril McFoy Robinson, 56, was shot once in the head around 1:55 Wednesday afternoon,September 17 and died on the way to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Injured also in the shooting was 46-year-old Shaun Cherrington who was shot in the left leg.

Witnesses say the men were playing a game of dominoes in Robinson’s yard located at the corner of Dean Street and Euphrates Avenue when a lone gunman entered the yard and fired several shots at one of the men playing dominoes.

Those present escaped through the back of the yard and on to Dean Street knocking down the fence in their rush to safety. Unable to hit his intended target, the shooter tturned his gun on Robinson landing the fatal shot.

According to police Robinson runs a snack shop in his yard to sell sweets and other goodies to the kids of St. Ignatius School. He is not known to be gang affiliated.

As many as seven shots were fired, but police have not yet ascertained what calibre gun was used in this shooting.

Robinson leaves behind to mourn him five children.
Police investigations are ongoing.
