Honduran police seize 700 lbs of cocaine destined for Belize

Police in Honduras, this week, reported seizing a shipment of over 700 pounds of cocaine worth more than US $5 million on a Panamanian ship, which was destined for Belize.

According to La Prensa, a Honduran newspaper, the Panamanian vessel set sail from Colombia a week ago and was headed to Belize with 700 pounds of cocaine.

The vessel was intercepted on April 29th in Puerto Castilla, and was taken to the naval base in Puerto Cortes, northern Honduras for further inspection after an initial search of the vessel did not uncover anything incriminating or suspicious.

The vessel named Angeline was manned by two Colombian nationals and a Honduran, who were all detained and later released by authorities when nothing was found in the ship.
Police later carried out a more detailed inspection of the vessel and after carrying out an intense sweep, discovered 319 kilos of cocaine.
