By Marion Ali, Assistant Editor

The House of Representatives is currently in session at the National Assembly in Belmopan, where Prime Minister Dean Barrow has presented the Budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

Of note, Barrow said that at the close of 2017, the National debt was over $3 Billion; and that there will be no new taxes in this year’s budget. Barrow also assured that the pro-poor programs will continue.

Acting Speaker, Minister of State Omar Figueroa is presiding over today’s proceedings. Notably missing is Minister of Human Development, Anthony “Boots” Martinez, who Barrow said is ill.

The Reporter online will have details of todays events later on.
