Customs raid yeilds big catch

The Customs and Excise Department this week made a large contraband raid in the Orange Walk district.
Customs carried out a raid on an abandoned house on Thursday afternoon in San Victor Village, where they found numerous items of a value still to be determined.

The items included 35 cases of soft drinks, 35 cases of beer, moew rhan 300 sheets of zinc roofing, several sacks of assorted vegetables, and other items.
Reports are that the goods may have come from a nearby Mexican community.

Customs officials were unavailable for comment, bur but Officer Commanding the Orange Walk Police formation, Selwin Tillett explained that the raid was carried out with assistance from the department’s Anti-Drug Unit, and not by any of his men.
