Butane prices tumble in time for Christmas

Belizeans will enjoy a $6 drop in the price of butane (LPG) just in time for the Christmas holidays.

The Supplies and Control Unit of the Ministry of Trade, announced the price change for gas imported by Belize Gas Limited, Western Gas Company Limited by PEMEX in Mexico on Thursday.

The change also affects gas imported by Belize Western Energy Limited, Southern Choice Butane, Zeta Gas, and Gas Tomza Limited from Central America. Local gas produced by Belize Natural Energy Limited has also been reduced.

The new controlled price per 100 lb cylinder of imported LPG from PEMEX in Belize City and Corozal is now $109 per 100 pounds, falling from $115.
In San Ignacio and Belmopan the price is now $111, while in Benque Viejo and Orange Walk the price is now $112 and $110 respectively. In Dangriga consumers will pay $113 and in Punta Gorda, $114.

Meanwhile, the price of Central American gas in Belize City and Corozal is now $106, while in Belmopan and San Ignacio it stands at $108. In Benque Viejo del Carmen it stands at $109, in Orange Walk $107, in Dangriga it stands at $110 and in Punta Gorda the new price is $111.00.

Local gas from BNE in Burrell Boom, San Ignacio, Belmopan and Benque Viejo will be a uniform $99.00 for a hundred pound cylinder.
