Butane prices drop for New Year

The Belize Bureau of Standards Supplies Control Unit has announced that as of January 17th, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) or butane will sell for under a dollar a pound.

The new price per 100-pound cylinder of LPG imported by Belize Gas Limited and Western Gas Company Limited from PEMEX in Mexico is $92 in Belize City, down from $104. The cost in Belmopan and San Ignacio is now $94, in Benque Viejo del Carmen the price is $95. In Orange Walk, Corozal, Dangriga and Punta Gorda the new prices are now $93, $92, $96 and $96 respectively. All districts saw a $12 decrease.

A 100-pound cylinder of LPG imported by Belize Western Energy Limited, Southern Choice Butane, Zeta Gas and Gas Tomza Limited is now $90 in Belize City down from $101. In Belmopan and San Ignacio, the new price is $92 and $93 in Benque Viejo del Carmen. In Orange Walk, Corozal, Dangriga and Punta Gorda the respective prices are now $91, $90, $94 and $95.

The domestic price on a 100-pound cylinder of LPG distributed by Belize Natural Energy Limited at depots in Burrell Boom, San Ignacio, Belmopan, Benque Viejo Del Carmen and Punta Gorda is set at $96.
