Boy finds body while playing in church yard

A boy playing in the open lot adjacent to the school on Wilson Street, discovered the lifeless body of Oscar John Lambey, 28, at around 6 a.m. on Friday, July 18th.

Police confirmed that the body had four stab wounds to the upper part of the torso. They believe Lambey was killed on the Ephesus Primary School and Church compound, then dragged by the arms to the open lot where his body was found.

Police found traces of blood on the walkway near the church and they think the killer attempted to cover the stains with sand.
Police confirmed that they have taken an employee of the church and schoolinto custody.

That person has reportedly told police that he and the deceased were socialising on Thursday night on the compound.
An eyewitness also reported that he saw Lambey in the company of the employee at around 10 p.m. on Thursday night on the church compound. It is not yet clear, however, what happened and what lead to the murder.

One of the parishioners of the church told us that Lambey goes around with a bible and voluntarily preaches from it. “His favourite passage is Revelations, talking about what will happen on the earth before Jesus comes…he always tells us to live good with people.”

Police have no motive as yet, but they are following one possible lead.
