A well-known Belizean businessman and football player from Benque Viejo del Carmen was shot and killed inside a bar in Melchor de Mencos, Guatemala on Monday night.

Just after 10:00 p.m., on February 12, Samuel Sosa, 32, sat inside a local bar in Melchor, where he owned a business, taking a drink when he was approached by a gunman known only as “El Gordo” who shot him once in his head.

Photos from the scene show Sosa lying face up on the floor of the establishment in a pool of blood and shards of broken glass scattered around.

Guatemalan media reported that police intercepted the get-away vehicle and apprehended a woman, who was allegedly with “El Gordo” prior to the shooting.

Mayra Veronica Aldana was taken into police custody and searched by authorities, who claimed they found a cell phone hidden inside her vagina and two semi-destroyed phone sims hidden inside her mouth.
