Belizean Rap & Reggae band to compete in Germany

Verge of Umbra, a new and dynamic hybrid  Rap & Reggae band out of Dangriga will be representing all of Central America in Germany in August  at the largest metal festival in the world.

Verge of Umbra won this honour by beating out five other bands –  Heresy  of Costa Rica, Dreamlore of  El Salvador; G.O.D. of Honduras; Kramer of Guatemala; and VoTraster of  Panama in Metal Battle 2017 held last month in Guatemala City.

Waken Open Air is the largest metal festival in the world. It will be held during August 3 to 5 in WakenVillage in Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. The festival frequently attracts crowds in excess of 80,000.

“Every single one of those bands was amazing!” explained Jermaine “Jenko” Jenkins, lead vocalist for VoU’s.

“The win gave us an excellent feeling of accomplishment; vindication for ourselves and our country as this scale hasn’t ever been achieved by any Belizean contemporary artist.”

In March 2016, Verge of Umbra launched its first album entitled V.O.U. which is  still available on digital platforms and hard copies  via the band’s Facebook Page.

Band members include Andres Pineda, on guitar; Faith Madubuko on drums; Lowell Gillett on bass; Kernelle Parks, reggae vocals; and Jermaine Jenkins, rap vocals.
