Three women have been arrested and face criminal charges related to with several stabbing attacks at a house party on Iguana Street Extension Sunday morning. The attacks sent five young women to the Emergency Room for treatment.
Kendra Smith, 21, of Neal’s Pen Road, and Lyvette Brown, 19, an unemployed person of Jane Usher Boulevard, were arraigned before Magistrate Dale Cayetano on Tuesday.
Police charged Smith and Brown with wounding Saysha Moody. The two were also booked on grievous harm and use of deadly means of harm against a 16-year-old girl.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were offered $3,000 bail plus one surety in the same amount. Their bail were offered on the condition that they stay away from all prosecution witnesses and they are to report to the Raccoon Street Police Station every Tuesday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
They are to return to court on August 29.
In relation to the same incident, on Monday, Sasha Moody, 18, an unemployed teenager of Iguana Street was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court on a charge of common assault against Michelle Conorque, and wounding of Kendra Smith.
Moody pleaded not guilty to the two charges and was offered $1,000 bail. Her case has been adjourned to August 22.
Belize City Police reported that around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, they visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital were they saw five women with an assortment of stab wounds.
Smith had a cut wound to the left wrist; while Moody had a cut wound to her right thumb and two stab wounds to the left side of her stomach.
A 16-year-old girl of Iguana Street Extension had several stab wounds to the upper left side of her breast, left upper shoulder, right side of her head and right leg.
Lyvette Brown had a stab wound near her right temple.
Darlene Adolphus, of Raccoon Street, had a cut wound to her left upper shoulder.
According to police, Kendra Smith and Levette Brown showed up uninvited at a house party at Moody’s home, where they both attacked Saysha, stabbing and cutting her.
All hell broke loose after that as other guests at the party joined in the melee.
Police recovered two knives from the scene, one with a seven inch blade and another with a five inch blade.
