San Pedro police are investigating the country’s 20th murder, which occurred on Tuesday in the Boca del Rio area of that town and claimed the life of a Honduran bar waitress.
Officer Commanding the San Pedro police station, Inspector Henry Jemmott told the Reporter that Johana Samantha Mendez Barrios, 23, a waitress at Los Compadres Bar in San Pedro, was socializing with a man and a woman at the Basil Parish apartment complex, where she lived, just prior to the stabbing at around 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
He said police are now actively seeking those two persons, whom police believe had a dispute with Mendez Barrios. Residents of the area say they didn’t hear anything and have not been forthcoming with information.
When police arrived at the location, they observed two women trying to render aid to Mendez Barrios, who was bleeding profusely from a stab wound to the left side of her neck. The critically wounded woman died while receiving treatment at the San Pedro Polyclinic.
