San Ignacio police have issued a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) to a US citizen after she allegedly knocked down and killed an elderly man on the Buena Vista road early Tuesday morning.
The woman, identified as 20-year-old Jessica Miller, was detained at the police station pending investigation into the details surrounding the death of Salvadorian national, 80-year-old Jose Francisco of a Buena Vista address.

Miller reported to police that around 6:20 a.m. on September 5th, while she was driving her red Subaru Impress on the feeder road heading towards Spanish Lookout, she collided into the rear of a motorcycle that was driven by the deceased.

Miller additionally indicated to police that at the time of the accident the area was reportedly canvassed with fog and although she tried to prevent colliding into the motorist, her efforts were fruitless.

Francisco sustained severe head and body injuries and was rushed to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
San Ignacio police say their investigation into the matter continues.
