Uno gas station robbed again!

By Marion Ali, Assistant Editor

For the second time this year, the UNO gas station off Vernon Street on Youth for the Future Drive has been the target of an armed robbery, and on both occasions, the incidents occurred in broad daylight.

The latest incident occurred around 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon and the gunman, who rode a bicycle, got away with more than $600, after he pointed a handgun at Floyd August, 41, an on-duty pump attendant.

Augustine told police that the assailant rode up to him, pointed what appeared to be a 9 millimeter pistol at him and demanded money. He said he handed over what he had on him, which was $627, and the robber sped off.

Police ave not yet made any arrests, but there are a number of surveillance cameras in the area that might have picked up on robbery.

In February of this year, two men in a car that bore no license plates, robbed the same gas station, taking more than $15,000 in that incident.
