Two men, Brandon Kerr, 30, and Lindberg Williams, 32, are remanded to jail on a joint charge of murder for the shooting and mutilation by burning of former Dangriga Fire Chief, Ralston Patnett, 51, on the Commerce Bight Road in Dangriga.

Kerr, who lives along the George Price Highway, and Williams, who lives on the Commerce Bight Road where the murder took place, are brothers-in-law, (Kerr lives with Williams’ sister), this newspaper has gathered.

The Reporter has also established that the pair knew Patnett. On the eve of the shooting when Patnett left the residence he had been looking after for an American friend, the two broke in and stole a television set and a 12 gauge shotgun. The stolen items belong to 68 year-old Edmond Couch, who lives in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.

The post mortem examination of Patnett’s remains disclosed that he was shot with the same stolen weapon, a Rossi Brand shotgun.

Patnett returned to the house late on Sunday night. As he neared the entrance of the property, driving his red Camry, some one riddled his car with shotgun pellets. Trapped inside the car, Patnett suffered two gunshot wounds, which disabled him.His attackers then set the car ablaze set ablaze.
Earlier this year Patnett had applied for early retirement. He had been a fireman since 1984.
