An American tourist who was vacationing with family members in Placencia, drowned unexpectedly late Tuesday evening.
On Tuesday around 6:30 p.m., Steven Gail Wine, a 53 year-old American of Colorado was with his wife and other family members socializing at Barefoot Bar, when Wine left the group to go for a swim in the sea.
Annie Berrardi, Wine’s common-law-wife told police that after waiting for some time and realizing that Wine was gone for an unusually long rime, she went looking for him and found his motionless body floating in the sea.
Around 6:45 p.m. when police responded to the scene, cops saw an individual performing CPR on the body. About three minutes later a doctor arrived on the scene and proceeded to conduct CPR as well but to no avail. Wine was pronounced dead.
Investigators have since classified the incident as sudden death and have confirmed that foul play is not suspected because there were no signs of physical violence on the body.
