Teen boy executed in San Pedro Town

San Pedro police are investigating the murder of 16-year-old Julian Tun who was executed on Saturday night just hours after he arrived on the island to visit a female friend.

Around 11:00 p.m on July 8, multiple shots rang out on Sea Grapes Drive in front of Banana Beach resort. Tun was shot to the left cheek, the top of his head and to his abdomen.

According to OC, Coastal Executive Unit, Superintendent Henry Jemmott, investigations into the matter revealed that Tun went to the location to meet up with someone, after which he was remove from the compound. He later returned and encountered two men when the incident unfolded and he was shot.

Tun was a former resident of Belize City but had recently moved to the Stann Creek district. According to sources, he had receive a text message from a female friend who invited him out to the island to visit.

While police initially question two girls in connection with the text message, they were later released as investigations are still ongoing to determine the identity of the person behind the messages.

Police are exploring the possibility that Tun’s murder may have been in connection to an incident in 2016, in which Tun was accused of trying to kill a notorious George Street gang figure in front of the Queen Street police station in 2016.
