A man believed to be a fugitive from Ecuador was arrested in Belize City for keeping an unlicensed gun.
Christian Jackson Ebanks, a 39-year-old resident of a Teachers Street address in Belize City, was arraigned in court last Thursday and has since been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

So far, no request for his extradition has been made.

Ebanks was arrested last Wednesday after a GSU search of his home yielded a chrome 9 millimeter pistol with serial number 508834B and a chrome 9 mm magazine.

It is believed that Banks’ real name is Floyd Wendel Ebanks Jurado, an Ecuadoran fugitive wanted for the murder of Alejandro Martín Teófilo in the Guayas Province of Ecuador.

Police have indicated that they have communicated with their Ecuadoran counterparts and are awaiting a response to decide what will be the next step forward in this case.

Ebanks is reported to have played a role in 2012 general election as the campaign manager for People’s United Party’s Cayo West representative, Oscar Sabido.
