Shooting leaves one man dead and another injured

A shooting at the corner of Mayflower and Vernon Streets on Wednesday, March 4th ended in death for one man and injury for another.

When the police arrived at the scene they discovered Triston Gordon, 23, suffering from gunshot wounds and Moses Gonguez dead in the yard.
Investigations revealed that at around 9:15 p.m. Gordon and Gonguez, along with four other friends were socializing inside a fenced yard at 13 Mayflower Street. Jervis Valencia, a resident of 5 Mayflower Street, reportedly entered the yard and opened fire, causing injuries to Gordon and Gonguez.

Valencia then tried to flee the scene, but policemen arriving at the yard ordered him to stop at the intersection of Vernon and Mayflower Streets. Valencia turned towards one of the policemen and reportedly pointed a black pistol at him. At point point the policemanfired shots at Valencia, hitting him in the neck and upper chest.

Valencia was transported to the KHMH, where he remains in a critical condition. Gordon received a gunshot wound to the leg and was also taken to the KHMH where he was treated and released.
Gonguez was transported to the morgue and awaits a post mortem examination. Police investigations are ongoing.
