By Ingrid Fernandez, Staff Reporter

A man lies critically wounded after he was shot in Belize City at around 10:25 a.m. on Friday.

Police membere from Precinct 1 responded to the shooting in an alley between Magazine Road and Johnson Street, a short distance away from the Pound Yard bridge.

There they found Walter Alexander Juarez, 24, a Salvadorian National bleeding profusely from a wound on the neck. Juarez had been shot twice.

A doctor at the Matron Roberts Health Center nearby administered first aid on him and referred him to the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Because of his critical condition, Juarez was only able to provide minimal information to the police, who have concluded it was one attacker acting alone.

The KHMH has been able to confirm that Juarez is in a critical condition and the hospital cannot issue a statement at this time.

Juarez is known to have any police record. The investigation is ongoing.
