A San Pedro cop, accused of sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison. He was denied bail and sent to jail for his own safety, after residents learned of the news.
Kyle Hubert Serrano, a police constable who lived in the San Pablo area on the island, was arraigned around noon on Wednesday, before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser.

Serrano, who was unrepresented in court, was charged with three counts of sexual assault which occurred over a a four-day period on three separate occasions, between November 30, and December 3, 2015.

The child reported that on November 27, 2015, Serrano nibbled at her breast. She further alleged that on November 30, 2015, he repeated the act. Then on December 3, 2015, the girl claimed that Serrano took his penis and rubbed it on her body.
In court, Serrano pleaded not guilty to the charges.

While sexual assault is a bailable offense, Prosecutor Sgt. Pitts was concerned about the minor’s safety. Serrano was denied bail. He is remanded to the Belize Central Prison until January 26, 2015.
