A 23-year-old man from Orange Walk died in a road traffic accident this week, after his motorcycle collided into a white pickup truck.

Matthew Bull, a resident of Yo Creek Village, was travelling on the Philip Goldson Highway towards Orange Walk Town, around 8:00 a.m., near the Mayemal curve at mile 57.

Bull reportedly tried to overtake a sugarcane truck, and crashed into a white Ford Ranger, driven by 31-year-old Hernan Cortez. Cortez was traveling in the opposite direction at the time and crashed in a head on collision with Bull, who sustained massive injuries and died on the spot.

Eyewitnesses said that Bull’s body was violently flung from his motorcycle before smashing into the pavement a few yards from the crash site.
Police have not disclosed whether or not Cortez will be criminally charged for the accident.
