A road traffic accident on the Sittee River road has left one person dead while an infant and a woman are recovering from injuries sustained in the deadly collision.

On Saturday March 4, around 2:45 p.m, 52-year-old Ernest Lincoln Andrews Jr., 25-year-old Rosalyn Logan and 2-year-old Eamon Andrews were traveling on the Stann Creek road on a Sunny Max motorcycle when it is alleged that upon reaching in front of Glovers Reef Guest House, a Toyota Rav-4 collided into their motorcycle sending them all sprawling to the pavement.

They were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital for treatment. The baby sustained several open wounds and broken bones, while Ernest Andrews Jr. was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the Rav-4 has since been identified as a BDF officer, 43-year-old Lawrence Lorenzo of a Belmopan address. He was served with a notice of intended prosecution and is expected to be charged.
