San Pedro police are investigating a mid-afternoon shooting which claimed the life of a teenager and caused injuries to another man.

Police have two people, including a minor, detained in connection with the murder/shooting.

Around 11:30 a.m. on October 3rd, multiple shots rang out in the Boca Del Rio area of the island resulting in the death of 18-year-old Christian Contreras and injuries to 28-year-old Ryan Lucas.

Contreras died on the scene after he was shot twice to the right side of his chest and one to his lower back and another to his right arm.

Lucas was also shot and was airlifted to the Karl Heausner Memoral Hospital (KHMH) for emergency medical treatment as a result of a single gunshot wound to his abdomen and upper right arm.

Contreras and Lucas were walking along Laguna Drive and Conch Shell Street when they were approached by two male individuals, one of whom pulled out a firearm and unleashed multiple shots in their direction.

The gunman and his accomplice then reportedly made their escape on bicycles. Police recovered eight .9 millimeter expended shells along with two slugs.
