Minister Castro accused of unwanted sexual advances in Tiawan

From left, Hon. Edmund Castro - CopyReports out of Taiwan suggest that Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport Edmund “Clear the land” Castro made unwanted sexual advances on a female staffer from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was attached to him as his chaperon while he was on an official visit last week.

Castro has since returned to Belize and has denied the allegation.

The Taiwanese embassy in Belize has reportedly said they would only comment on the incident when they receive official word from Taipei.

According to multiple media reports, Castro made the unwelcome advance upon a protocol officer.

The woman is said to have immediately reported the incident to her superiors.

Taiwan’s ambassador to Belize, Ambassador David Wu, reportedly called Prime Minister Dean Barrow to complain about the incident.

Castro had travelled to Taiwan on official business along with a Belize City Council delegation that was led by Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley and City Councillor Eric Chan.
